The goal of this deep cleaning program is to provide a quarterly preventive maintenance service allowing the towers to work more efficiently, reducing the need for excessive water treatment chemicals, and reducing chiller tube fouling by water borne silt.
This program will minimize overall cost on the towers and maximize energy efficiency of the chillers by providing clean and efficient heat transfer surfaces.
- On-site engineer to isolate first tower to be cleaned. Energize the cooling tower fan on the lowest possible VFD setting.
- Initiate LOTO on electrical and tower valves.
- Drain tower basin.
- Mechanical Clean (high pressure wash) all sides of the EVAPCO cooling towers, starting at the top of the tower (drift eliminator) cleaning to the bottom and continuing to outside of tower (this may be completed simultaneously.)
- Pressure Wash fan intakes.
- Clean all drift eliminators, louvers, and spray nozzles, in addition to any hot decks, where applicable.
- Remove softened scale on all parts of tower, as best as possible without damaging tower plastic parts.
- Remove and clean basin intake screens.
- All debris (scale, dirt, etc.) will be vacuumed out. Debris removed from tower will be properly disposed of and NOT flushed down the drain.
- Clean exterior walls, as necessary.
- Once tower has been cleaned, tower will be refilled and returned for service.
- Chemical treatment levels will need to be adjusted by facilities management or Water Treatment Company.
